Happy Friday. Hope all your wishes for this weekend come true!

A Ring Thing

It's been a lazy week. It seems the more work I have to do the lazier I get. Procrastination is no stranger to me, so maybe it's more that than laziness. But here is a little Friday pick-me-up. Had a jewelery attack yesterday, so did some cyber window shopping on Etsy. Here are some of my favourites

That last one is probably my favourite. I had to get Liz to talk me out of it this morning. I have so much jewelry I couldn't, I shouldn't....I just may breakdown by the end of the weekend.
Here is where to find these gems pardon the pun 1234

Quazy for Quilts

I must say I'm not a huge fan of quilts and quilting, and before two weeks ago never thought I would be making one or two for that matter. It all started when my mom gave me a whole pile of fabric swatches. She acquired these from a neighbour who thought I could use them. Knowing I had no more room for fabric in my tiny sewing space, I took them anyways. I was more excited by the challenge of finding a use for the fabric, than by the practical notion that I had no room for these piles of books. This meant only one thing. I had to act fast and use up as much of the fabric as possible. I thought about it, and it dawned on me that this is a perfect way to make a quilt! The pieces are already cut in uniform squares, and they are all coordinated for me! So I started small and simple. No real pattern just squares. A baby quilt for newly born baby Keenan. There were a few tricky moments, but I gave it my all and ended up with this

A fair first attempt. The first quilt was pretty painless, so I thought lets step it up. My grandma's birthday is this week, and we are paying a special visit, so I thought what a nice thing for my grandma to have. She's always making things for everyone else, but when was the last time someone made something for her? So I set out on making a much bigger quilt. And this is what I came up with

It turned out to be more of a bed spread than a quilt, because I didn't have enough batting, but I think it's lovely all the same. When I asked Clayton what he thought he said It's a nice quilt for a grandma.... My grandma loves flowers so I went all out and gave her flowers!

So long story short, if you want to make a quilt, and are scissorly challenged like myself (this means I can't cut in a straight line) than this project is for you. You just need to get your hands on some fabric swatches and your set to go.

Photo Shoot Fun

 4New Image5New Image

Hello readers! It feels like I haven’t posted in ages,  and that’s because I haven’t!  Last week was a busy week, planning for this past weekend’s fabulous photo shoot, and making a little present for baby Keenan (I’ll fill you in on this little surprise later).  I had the pleasure of styling these two beautiful ladies for the shoot, while the wonderful Kaili was behind the camera.  The photos are for a look book for an upcoming project (details on this also to come sooon).  We had so much fun and are so happy with the pictures.  It was a great day and a good sign of things to come.  You can check out some more pictures here

Les Petites Madeleines

I couldn’t sleep this morning, so I decided to try my hand at making Madeleins. I had been searching for the baking trays for these heavenly cakes for months and months, and last weekend on an unscheduled stop to a roadside junk shop I found two baking trays still in the package!! So no sleep=delicious Madeleins with my morning tea.  I used this recipe, and it was so easy.  They look just like the ones I used to eat in France!

He's back and better than ever!

I did a little catching up on my regularly scheduled TV watching, and saw the newest episode of Project Runway, and YAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! Is all I have to say. I was so bummed last week that Anthony was sent packing, but lucky me (more like lucky him) he returned for yet another challenge after Maya dropped out. Not only did he get to resume his spot in the competition, but he was one of the winners of the challenge! Way to go Anthony! I want him to be in the top three, but I know Emilio is going to take this season. I like him too, but not as much cause he knows he's going to win. I'm not a TV junky, but I loooooooove Project Runway. I'll be sad when it's over. (Sorry readers if you don't watch PR, but I had to blog this excitement!)
